Illinois Prison Project Brand & Website
The Illinois prison system makes no room for compassion, nor is there recognition that people change or grow within the criminal legal system. The Illinois Prison Project fights against regressive policies, racist practices, and a system that treats people as disposable with a mission focused on hope, compassion, and humanity.
We helped put words on the IPP core story and created a new strong logo and visual identity. All came together in their new dynamic website implemented in Webflow. IPP now has the branding and communication tools to take the next step towards bringing hope to and fight in the community with incarcerated people and their loved ones for a brighter, more humane, and just system.

The new logo was developed based on several workshops where the project team brought forward the values we wanted to support. "Hope" was the superior value. IPP fights every day to bring hope to the incarcerated, their loved ones, and the community.

The visual identity had to accommodate a reality where IPP can use all kinds of images and text. Many of the stories and pictures are taken by the families of the incarcerated. We focused on creating a recognizable brand and have a flexible and easy-to-use framework for the team at IPP.

A unique visual identity
By utilizing the graphic elements from the identity, the circle and the bars, we made a system to put a frosted effect on images or simply used a circle frame. We used the design system on both the website and social media posts to create an immediately recognizable brand.
